Meet the Designer: Mia Laila

I’m a 25-year-old designer who has returned to my East London roots after spending much of my life in Essex. I run an alterations and reworking business, collaborating with vintage resellers across London, while also designing custom clothing, fashion collections, and jewellery for London-based brands, including my own sustainable upcycling label, Milo Vogue. In addition to creating unique, reimagined pieces, I teach sewing and design at my Poplar-based fashion studio and work with the Self Growth Charity to inspire and equip young people with sustainable fashion practices and the confidence to pursue their dreams.

At Milo Vogue, we believe in a future where fashion doesn’t cost the planet. With abundant resources around us, no garment is truly at the end of its life. By upcycling vintage, damaged, and discarded materials, we breathe new life into clothing, proving that fashion can be both innovative and sustainable
